Intro to Slip Casting: Minis, Ornaments, Jewlery & Kitsch Forms

Learn the basics of slip casting in this hands-on workshop designed for beginners and small-batch makers. Students will explore how to use 1-part, 2-part, and 3-part plaster molds, work with press molds, and understand proper pouring, timing, and releasing techniques. You’ll also learn how to create your own simple 1-part mold to continue casting at home.
Perfect for making minis, ornaments, and kitschy forms — and for anyone interested in fast, consistent production.

This class focuses on technique only. Casting, trimming, and mold work are included, but firing and glazing are optional and not included in the class fee. Students who wish to have their pieces fired and glazed may do so for an additional cost.

Join artist Jotham Hung for a hands-on throwing workshop exploring the art of tea-ware. Learn how to create teapots, chawan, and yunomi using the traditional “off-the-hump” technique, practiced for centuries across Asia. Jotham will guide students through forming and assembling teapots, refining drinking vessels, and experimenting with surface decoration like faceting, carving, and slip work. Open to intermediate students comfortable centering 2–3 lbs of clay.
