Tuesday Techniques is a rotating series of focused 2-3 hour workshops designed to explore specific ceramic skills, processes, and surface techniques. These classes offer students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of clay through targeted instruction, experimentation, and hands-on practice in a smaller class setting.

Intro to Porcelain

4-week class

Curious about porcelain but intimidated by its reputation? This 4-week class is designed to introduce students to porcelain. 

 Throughout this class, students will learn techniques specifically geared toward working with porcelain, including proper wedging, throwing, throwing off the hump, trimming, using chucks, understanding shrinkage, and glazing considerations.

Crystalline Glazes with Ian Childers

3-day Workshop

This is a 3 day introductory workshop for anyone interested in exploring cone 10 crystalline glazes that will cover the following: glaze formulation, making and preparing pots for crystalline glazing, sanding and polishing finished pots, and acid etching glazes to make them pop.

Each participant will be given two pieces of bisque ware to glaze, fire, and keep. Led by visiting artist Ian Childers, this workshop will take place over 3 days.
